A month after Vivo announced the Vivo V17 in Russia, it has finally brought the phone to India. But unlike the Russian phone, the Vivo V17 gets an all-new design in India. The highlight-worthy features of the phone are the L-shaped quad-camera setup, and the AMOLED display that, Vivo claims, is the smallest punch-hole on a smartphone.
The phone, like the Vivo V17 Pro, is powered by a Snapdragon 675 and comes in a single variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The back of the phone has a smooth glass-like back with curved edges. The rectangular camera module sits to the left of the back. There’s no fingerprint sensor as the phone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The quad-camera module consists of a 48MP main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP bokeh camera. Add a bunch of software features like portrait light effects and super night mode, and Vivo claims that the phone will offer “beautiful results even when the sun goes down”. This is something we’ll be testing for our upcoming review.
The phone has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 18W Dual-Engine Fast Charging technology. It runs on Android Pie out of the box and has Vivo’s Funtouch OS layered on top. This layer allows for custom features like Game Turbo and Net Turbo. The phone is priced at INR 22,999 and will go on sale in India from Decemeber 17. It will be available on all major online retailers, and in most brick-and-mortars too.
Although the Vivo V17 seems to be an interesting device, phones from Redmi and Realme will definitely give some heat
